22nd - 27th September 2026

Kingston Lacy, Wimborne, Dorset

A fair full of secrets. A landscape full of noises.

Legends walk among us, with their stories to tell.

Everyone's looking for somewhere to belong.

In this compelling and dreamlike promenade production, audiences were welcomed to Kingston Lacy by those who once called it home. An unforgettable experience inspired by Wimborne's past and present, created to celebrate WCT's 35th anniversary, as well as Wimborne: Dorset Town of Culture 2026.

This huge production was performed across six performances in September 2026, featuring over a hundred community performers - including actors, choir members, instrumentalists, young actors, jeep drivers, puppeteers, evacuee guides, and the town's crier and mayor.

'Home is where the heart is, and it's where we go at the end.'

Vicki Slade, MP for mid dorset and north poole

'I just wanted to write and congratulate you on the wonderful production of Belonging, staged as part of the Wimborne Town of Culture programme.

The setting was simply idyllic. With the moon shining brightly overhead and the beautiful landscape of Kingston Lacy forming the backdrop, the promenade theatre experience felt truly immersive.

It was also fantastic to see such a strong commitment to inclusivity, with disabled performers from Millstream an important part of the production. Bringing together a cast of that size and diversity is no small feat, and I can only imagine the level of coordination, dedication and logistical planning required to make it all happen.

Most of all, I was moved by the storyline. Weaving the themes of home and belonging for Jack and his grandchild, alongside the characters of Kingston Lacy was conveyed with great sensitivity and authenticity. By the time we reached the finale I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.

Wimborne Community Theatre should be immensely proud of what has been achieved.'
